Customer Service or Serve

“Customer Service” based on the dictionary’s definition is; “assistance and other resources that a company provides to the people who buy or use its products or services”

To “Serve” however is described as “to contribute to, promote…a continuous supply of something.” And there is also, “To act as a servant.”

Now customer service and serving doesn’t look too different until you factor in intention. When you serve someone you wish to meet their needs often in a selfless manner. The ultimate desire is to see them comfortable, content and without additional burden. Customer Service you work to ensure your customer is happy while you are working on a deal with them. You’re concentration may be on your list of things to do to facilitate the transaction and there may not be enough attention or time spent requesting or considering ways to serve your customer continuously.

When I think of times that I’ve served, I consider when I reached out to friends or my community first. I realize I thought less about what skills and experience I would use or how much I would not be paid to serve and more about what was required. I was certain that if asked I could find a way to meet a need. I volunteered my time, utilizing tenacity, persistence, and compassion in my community and church. The primary motivation for participating was my desire to serve. I wanted wholeheartedly to help someone, children, families, women, community. Whenever someone said, “I can’t!” I asked, “Why not? Have you tried doing it this way?”

As a parent, concerned citizen, a Volunteer or professional, I didn’t have the constraints of others in certain authoritative positions. My chain of command had a lot less protocol and I was able, in many cases, to go directly to the source w/o a lot of opposition. There may have been some red tape and/or a systematic way of contacting officials however, I believed my involvement was about urgency and getting results and since I was not an ‘employee’ and merely concerned with the issues for the greater good of someone or the community, I didn’t allow anyone’s limiting perspective stop me from pursuing helpful resolutions. I stayed focused on the end in sight. And worked hard to create or facilitate the means to that end. Therefore I served by making phone calls, writing letters, setting up appointments, meeting with City Officials, parents, Pastors, single moms, students, teachers, women’s groups, real estate professionals, business owners, I had no problem asserting myself, making contact and meeting people. Being passionate about the cause allows me to be very persuasive. I think now, have I translated this mindset, fervor to my current business/profession?

I hope that I’m always asking, “Can I help you?” Whether it be someone I know or recently met, a prospect, family member and/or friend. When the response is “Yes you can.” my focus is to listen and truly Serve.

With a servant heart and a desire to see people truly happy with their choices, my focus remains on Serving continuously the needs of others. For the client that I’ve worked with for 3 years and you live abroad yet purchased pre-construction in Florida and the building is still under construction, I’m with you. Whether we are meeting on the phone, chatting, e-mail or ‘snail’ mail we are in constant communication. If you’re local and want clarification on something you’ve read about the market and how it affects you, you can guarantee I’m just 10 digits away. When you’re local I’ll meet you at the house, office, café. We’ll discuss your new plans, your growing family, relocation and design plans.

I’m planning your marketing strategy to sell your property based on your time frame for change the needs of you and your family, your financial obligations, the market and your property. I’m looking for your new house/condo/penthouse when you share with me your lifestyle, needs and qualifications. I’ll make the calls, knock on doors, create opportunities, think ‘out of the box’ or get back to basics. I’m here to serve YOU.

And I know that when I Live to Serve there is Success when I Serve to Live.

There are Heroes I've never met...But this one I know

The cars lined the street in front of the house, in the drive and in front of the house next door. Across the street seems full with bumper to bumper parallel parked cars as well. You begin to think, "This is more than a family BBQ, right?" It was talked about last month as something to put on the calendar. Another reason to meet at a friend's home on a Holiday, great food and good company.

Each Holiday we do this and every time it's at a different one of our homes. Typically for each Holiday event there are other factors leading up to the event. The celebration is reserved for the day however there may be traditions, cards, Church, visiting family, Praise, Cheer, gifts, Fire Works, decorations, and/or special event attire. For this Holiday there was just a reminder the day before and "oh bring a bathing suit for the kids."

Arriving at the designated 'Party' house, offered no clues for anyone to distinguish this was a Memorial Day Celebration. We were in the home of retired servicemen; I suppose that may have been the relevance for the selection of 'whose' house we would have this party. There were no Flags waving, there really was no natural wind or breeze moving for that matter. There were however, heavy duty box type fans, about 3, low to the ground pointed upward blowing strong gusts of air directly in the middle of impromptu gatherings of 4 or more. I myself had a Marilyn Monroe type moment, less all the alluring glamour, when I unknowingly stepped directly in front of low lying super fan. We were a larger than normal group. There was the hum of music and the boisterous sounds of happiness from children's laughter, summer pool splashing, new introductions, bright vibrant, reds, yellows, pinks or was it fuschia, wet and worn by small agile bodies in love with FUN and passionate about pool tricks. The sun was vibrant and the rays kissed our skin as we focused on casual conversations, smiles, food and drink.

Did I mention food? I suppose it was synonymous with theme of the day, American hotdogs, grilled hamburgers, the lists goes on. Of Course there were a variety of icy cold Beers and other spirits.Could it be that the foods suited the Memorial Day celebration? American favorites served outdoors to friends and family paying homage to slain soldiers of U.S. Wars past and Present? I think that may be a long stretch but I believe there was some consideration when the menu was planned to create a Holiday theme, Red, White and BLUE. There were many poignant discussions going on. We even talked politics. Obama just visited Tampa days before and few in our party went to see him. Two boasted about how "HE" shook their hands. They were eye to eye with "the Future President". There were in fact over 20,000 people there so the 'hand shakes' are impressive and deserves a moment in the Spotlight. In the midst of this conversation, discussions of War or the significance of remembering fallen heroes and celebrating and lifting up troops fighting in the current war proved to be somber "buzz killers." I guess I believed the day to be something more about others and less about us. For our particular group on this day, Memorial Day 2008 it was about the "Q", the pool and the music...oh and the family and friends present.

Well I couldn't let the weekend pass without acknowledging that while I love a GREAT party, being with my family of friends and meeting new people is "FABulous", I had to find a personal way to honor those who chose and choose to sacrifice their lives daily against any enemy so that I, my family, your family, We, can live FREE. I decided to write and create opportunity for others to meet and Honor a local Soldier/Hero.

I learned that Andrew Wood, a fellow Real Estate professional was a War Veteran. He's young and ambitious, bold and selfless. During this day before the Party, we met and it was by chance that we discussed his life before Keller Williams Kelly Realty. He was a soldier serving in the Iraq War. Reservedly he talked about some of his experiences of WAR. He seemed to look inward and not at me when he remembered facts: missing the birth of his son, returning to war days after being married, seemingly endless sand in an impoverished land, Afghanistan, land mines, careful trekking, the bus he was on that blew up, weeks upon weeks hospitalized, near life ending experiences, death, instant and in stages surrounding "them." There were vivid images of life taken. Some situations he shared, others played out behind his bright eyes. He blinked hard and worked to shift his focus and the conversation. I could not press. It was not my intention or business to request so much of him.

I thanked him for sharing. He's humble and spirited. He spends so much time these days working diligently to create a better place for his now 5 year old son, family, friends and his clients here in Sunny Florida. There are mixed feelings about the War or rather the survival of War. He is however faithful to his Country and true to his fellow service men and women. He honorably represents the best of the Best. Simper Fi!!!! He earned a Purple Heart, a Survivor! He is a Hero. There are Heroes I've never met...But this one I know.

Because of you and what you do, I'm thankful we don't fall asleep hopeless and wake up to gunfire or bombs while we shiver in fear and anxiety confined to a small space in what used to be Home.

Because of you and what you do, I'm thankful that we don't step out of our homes and notice the structure next to us is non-existent along with the people, the families that worked or resided there, gone in a fiery blaze and clouds of black smoke, instant and intentional.

Because of you and what you do, I'm thankful that we don't grow numb to sirens daily or the heart wrenching blasts of heavy armor and gunfire. Nor do we grow accustomed to the overwhelming stench of life days gone from bodies left and ignored in the streets we used to watch our children race down or hovering in pain near dead, Hopeless. I digress!

It's been stated that "WAR is Hell!" I know that I'm thankful for those servicemen and women performing their duties to serve this country and protect life as we've grown to love it here. It's a selfless act that warrants Honor and Praise on this day and everyday. We pray they all could and would return home alive and well. But we know all too well that this may not be the case for too many.

To have lived for years in Iraq and Afghanistan, where many lose their aspiration to live another day and believe that any day could be their very last is not how Andrew LIVES NOW. This is not how we LIVE here in the U.S. Thank God HOPE is restored. May this be the realization for All troops fighting STILL. "Keep HOPE ALIVE!"

God Bless you All.

Closer than Ever...

It's great to see the community truly coming together to ensure this Mega Open House Event become a major attraction. The priority is to Sell the HOUSES so that we can Give BACK, $$$$ to Children's Dream Fund and KW Cares for Luis and his family. The concept is simple enough, however the planning, hands on marketing and special presentations, take time and perseverance.

We are well on our way and the event is this SATURDAY, March 29th. There's been so much talk about it but truly the question remains, will qualified buyers show up and are they ready to purchase???? Time will tell but we know that this Event will not go "un" noticed. Not if I can help.

This is just one of the houses for sale. Priced from $699,000 - $899,000 we have options. The golf community has 33 holes, so much more than a typical 18 hole course, with hills and ponds, tennis courts, fitness center and restaurant. It's exquisite tranquil living and special for avid golfers. There is much talk about Country Club Membership inclusive with purchase. Depending on the offers, it may very well be translated into Action. It's certainly worth asking.

I'm thankful for the support we've received thus far from a Time for Wine, Infinity Abstract & Title, Beef 'O Brady's, The Abbey, Armor Air, Arbonne International and DKTravel.

I'll keep everyone posted and include pictures from the Mega Open House Event!

May I have your Attention PLEASE...

My partner and I would like to enlist your help in making a dream-come-true for a young man that is struggling with T-Cell Leukemia at the tender age of 16. Luis is a baseball enthusiast having played on organized teams since he was 9 years old. Unfortunately, he cannot participate in his passion as he could before he was stricken with this life-threatening illness. This disease is not only taking a physical toll on Luis, but an emotional toll on the entire family along with a significant financial burden on his parents.

Debbie Davis and I, The LUXE Group, have teamed with Arthur Rutenberg Homes, the Children’s Dream Fund and KW Cares to raise money to enable Luis to realize a Dream, to visit Hawaii, as well as, assist his family with the numerous debts they are incurring due to treatments, the care for Luis and his siblings and necessities, e.g., food and shelter. Hence, we appeal to you for help. We know that being recognized as a caring and concerned professional that gives back to your community is important to you.

Arthur Rutenberg Homes has affirmed a desire to help this family and is, thereby donating a portion of the proceeds of the sales of their three remaining homes in the Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club community for a limited time. Debbie and I are also committed to this end and will be donating a portion of our commissions to the aforementioned foundations on behalf of this deserving family. To do this we will be hosting a Mega-Open House scheduled for March 29, 2008 from 3 p.m.- 7 p.m. in the staged model located at 13652 Carnoustie Circle. We cannot do this by ourselves. We need you! Therefore we are requesting that you join us in making this endeavor an overwhelming success. If you know anyone who is thinking about relocating into this area, now is the time to make a huge difference and earn a 3% commission, too. Preview on the MLS the following: T2301006, T2300985, T2300927.

Contact us for copy of letter from the Children’s Dream Fund for your perusal and we ask that you offer up prayers and send positive thoughts for the fulfillment of this goal on behalf of this family. We look forward to seeing you at the Open House event!

Thank you,

This letter is a special call to real estate professionals working with clients looking to purchase homes in renowned golf community. However, it's also a call to the community to participate in an event that will help a family in need and a child with life threatening illness.
It's not every day that we see real estate professionals banding together to make a difference, but believe that it happens. The LUXE Group of Keller Williams Kelly Realty have created a 'model' that sets a precedence for real estate agents, sellers, and not-for-profit organizations to work together and provide financial assistance to an individual/family in need within the community. The importance of this 'model' lies in the opportunity created for Listing agent and Seller to sell the house and "Give" to a worthy cause. The opportunities extend to real estate professionals to do what we do best, "Serve" our communities. Ultimately, the community benefits by participating by offering assistance, financial support, service, prayers and/or referrals for the sale. It's a Win/Win/Win situation. The new home buyer is satisfied with their quality home purchased for an unbelievable price and contributions are distributed because they made the decision to purchase that house. The buyer is an integral part of this process. The willingness of all parties to consider helping someone else has a value that cannot be calculated and is therefore the most significant aspect of this endeavor for all. It's "real" people, working in "real" estate for a "real purpose" This is what we DO.
The Mega Open House Event will not look like a traditional Open House, there will be live music, wine tasting, guided tours of three homes, exotic finger foods, tasty dessert bites, enhanced mood settings in two of the houses, one is currently under construction. We'll have ongoing presentations on homes, community, golf and demos the entire time. Special guests have been invited and if you want to be seen, you will not want to miss this EVENT. This will be a great opportunity for networking. Door prizes to include exotic vacation will be given as well.
Opportunities for individuals or companies to contribute to Luis and his family will be available through KW Cares and Children's Dream Fund. It's a worthy cause and we are thankful for your prayers and your support.
Keep you up to date on the progress leading to the Event by checking this Blog for pics and videos from the actual Event. We'd love for it to be a Celebration Luis. We are looking forward to having contracts signed before the Mega Open happens.
Thanks for your Attention and your support. And of course if you know someone looking to buy or have a friend that knows someone that just would love a LUXE home in a fantastic Golf and Tennis community... You know what to DO!
My Best,
Felicia "REALTOR Gurl" Romano
